Shadows - Outside fun

It is so hard to believe that a week ago we had snow on the ground and today the kids are playing outside without jackets on! What great, sunny weather we are having! The kids are loving being able to run and ride bikes and I am loving the quiet house!

Shadows - Busy City

This was the "lovely" view outside our hotel window, but the views of the wires and shadows created because it was sunny was kind of interesting! I really want this photo project to show whats going on in our lives instead of just random pictures...so I hope to incorporate the themes with our lives!

Cold - Drink

Thomas and I headed to Nashville Friday night. Thomas had gotten tickets at Christmas for the Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Bill Engvall comedy show and this was the night. He had wanted to go to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville but they had an hour and half wait and we didn't have the time. So we headed to Hard Rock where we both enjoyed some nice cold drinks...I got this Mango-Berry cooler (non-alcoholic)! Yummy!

Cold - This Weeks Book

Today's picture is a page out of Mercer Mayer's Just a Snowman and I thought it fit with this weeks theme and our own family! Notice the word "cold" is in the line "Little Sister was getting cold so we went inside," our little sister, Tapanga, has been the first one in from the snow days, it is just to cold for her outside, but unlike this story the big brothers don't come in with her...they like to play outside for much longer! Also like this story, they all enjoy a cup of hot chocolate when they get inside!

Cold - New Snowfall

We got another snowfall last night...3 to 4 inches depending on where you measure, but oh so pretty!

Cold - Commons Area at School

During class change from the regular academic classes to related arts, students take the outside route between the two buildings. This route can be COLD, but it is the quickest route with the least disturbance to other classes. Even four days after the last snow and with temperatures reaching the 40's you can see the amount of snow left!

Cold - Snow Castles?

Tanner was very excited about his snow castles he created yesterday, so this morning I went out and took a picture of his creation! Very cold...the kids have enjoyed playing in our latest snowfall, they are going out his day to play in the remaining snow and see what they can make. Today they went out and created a snow fort, with what they said, included a chair and a computer.

Cold - Ice

As we were leaving the restaurant I noticed this car parked next to us...must have been parked underneath a water drip...look at all the ice! Hope they didn't need to fill up on the way home!

Jumpstart to the Week of Cold

We got a good snowfall yesterday and today is COLD...about 20 degrees!

Hobby 7 - Travel

We love to travel! I enjoy going to new and old places, staying in hotels and lounging by the pool (with a good book)! It is not uncommon for us to take numerous trips in a year. Driving, camping, cruising...all sorts. This year is no different already on the agenda includes at least two camping trips, one cruise, one beach trip and most likely the best place...Disney! I borrowed todays picture from our last cruise two years ago.

Hobby 6 - New Hobby?

My mother in law likes to sew and is pretty creative. She can make some of the most beautiful quilts and I know that for a long time I have thought about trying it out myself. When Christmas break started, Diann asked if I could schedule some time to sew with her and surprised me with this machine to take home, not necessarily to keep...but she does have three others! I am on the look out for a project to make, but right now I am sewing strips of fabric together and sewing patches on the boys Lowes aprons. I do have to say it is pretty relaxing!

Hobby 5 - Cards

One of the things I love to do is play cards. We go to my parents house on Wednesdays for dinner and often end the night in a game of hearts or spades...tonight it was spades this was the best hand of the night for me.

Hobby 4 - Reading

I enjoy reading a lot! In the past, during the school year I don't get to read much except for during breaks, but I have made it a point to make time this year and am much happier! I take time before bed or sometimes even enjoy quiet time in the tub reading a book! By the way this is a picture of the book I am starting and since this photo project started this is the 3rd book in the 3rd week...maybe I will see if I can keep this pattern up?

Hobby 3 - Thomas' Hobby

About a year ago Thomas really started getting into woodworking. His first project was a big one, an Adirondack chair! Since then he has made other smaller projects including a lap desk, a puzzle game, and this stool which is almost done. I have to say I have a pretty handy husband!

Hobby 2 - Internet Surfing

I have to admit, this might not be a hobby but more of an addiction! I am addicted to my computer. I enjoy going on it and checking facebook and my email, working on my two blogs, shopping online, and checking the weather. Of course, I am earning free money using my computer now and days, because I do all of my searches through swagbucks! There is hardly I day that goes by that I don't check things out a least a couple times a day...but I enjoy it!

Hobby 1 - Couponing and Saving

Today starts the week of hobby photos. My hobbies will come up in no particular order, but today's was chosen because I went shopping. Before I went shopping I went through my coupons and chose the coupons I needed for the items I was buying. I love to save money and I enjoy finding the best deals. When I am not teaching (I don't have the time during the school year) I also use a few website to help in finding the best deals, websites like southernsaver.com or hip2save.com are great resources for finding and saving money! Todays savings...$20.82 in coupons and $5.92 in price matching!

Locker #100

What to do for my last "100" picture? I decided to scour the halls of NPMS and look for locker #100 and found two of them! Both of the lockers were in six grade areas, but not near each other. You can tell the wear and tear that these lockers have been through...they are the same lockers that were in the school when I was a student at NPMS 20 years ago!

100 A Perfect Score!

Grading can be tedious, but its always great when I get papers like these!

100 Fingers

I tried to do this pose the other day when I met up with some friends for a play date, but when I got home and started counting I realized I "lost" one of the kids along the way! So never fear, when we returned to school on Wednesday after our snow days I had some of my students circle together and show off their fingers! This actually worked out better because you can see a variety of differences in styles with nail polish and jewelry AND these kids knew how to follow directions!

On Page 100 in My New Book

Finished Firefly Lane and am now reading How Not to Make a Wish, which I am on page 100!
On a side note this wasn't my original plan for today, but I will do that picture later this week.

100 Times Worth It!

They may give me headaches, be really loud and run through the house like wild ape children, but they are so totally worth it all!

100 Trix Cereals for Breakfast

I had Tanner count out the cereal pieces for Tapanga's breakfast, great counting practice for him. He says, "That's not enough for me!" Must not have been enough for Tapanga either, she asked for more after finishing this bowl.

100 - Peg Game Sticks

This morning we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and anytime we go, everyone has to play the peg game. Thomas came up with the idea to use the game pieces to make a 100 for the first picture during the 100 themed week!

Two "News" Today

New Tooth...Tanner is getting his first adult tooth in! He lost the baby one at the beginning of December and we can now see the new one coming in.
New game...I had to post two "news" for today because I wanted to record both before the "new" week was over. We had played this game many times with some friends and really enjoyed it. In the past when I have gone to look at buying a copy for ourselves I had not been able to find any, except for one copy at Amazon for $70+. WAY to much to spend on a game...by chance I looked the other day and found it for a reasonable amount and got it right away. We called some family and friends over to enjoy a game night and good company!

New Mailbox

This is our new mailbox. We weren't planning on getting a new one anytime soon, seeing as we have only had the other a little over a year. Yet, when we came home on Tuesday afternoon some driver had hit our mailbox and left the pieces all over the road. Interesting thing though...Thomas had put a Netflix movie in the mail Tuesday morning and Tuesday afternoon our mail for the day was in the small remaining hole for the paper. Question of the day...what happened to the movie? No worries it seems to have made it to Netflix and the next one is on its way! Just wish the person who hit our box would have been kind enough to at least stop and apologize...maybe he/she has a mark on their mirror that will remind them to be more careful from now on?

New Lego Sets

Tonight when we got to Grammie and Grandpas house they surprised the boys with new Lego sets! Tanner has really enjoyed putting his Legos together recently and wanted to get right to these. Thomas and Grandpa were helpers in making sure everything went together correctly. What a great way for the guys to spend a Wednesday night together!

New Day...New School Semester

Christmas break is over and I have to go back to work. What a way to document the start of the next semester of school by taking a picture of the day getting lighter out of the back door of my classroom.

The New Book I am Starting Today

I just finished reading The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo and it was time to pick my next book to read. This one looked good. Kristin Hannah's books have an enjoyable read, not quite romance or touchy feely but a good story.

New Beard Growth

It takes Thomas no time at all to get stubble. I really prefer he not grow out his beard, but on days off he refuses to shave!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! The moment the ball dropped on tv...what a great start to 2011 spending time with family and friends at home!
