Wedding of the Centuary

I couldn't let today go by without documenting the royal wedding. Of course I had to work today and I am not a fan of getting up earlier than I am suppose to, but I did catch glimpses of the wedding at different points. I hope that their marriage will be a happy one! Oh and the dress was really gorgeous!

Math Competition

One of the things I sponsor at school is the Math Team and every year we attend a math competition at APSU. When the weather is nice the kids enjoy playing on the lawns after lunch and this year is no different, here we have a game of duck, duck, goose!

A Referral in Kindergarten!

Imagine my surprise when Tyler comes home with this! He is in Kindergarten and he already has a referral!!! I am very frustrated, but to add to this I had no notice, no contact that there was any problem! To say the least I will be having a talk with the bus driver.

Sale...Did you say Sale? A Dollar?

One of the websites I keep dibs on during the day for good deals posted a sale on Capri Suns. My kids love Capri Suns and for any functions they are often a great thing to have. Basically, the sale said that Capri Suns were on sale with buy one get one free. When you go to the store they are priced at $2.99 each, making each box $1.49...not really a bad price since when I went to Wal-mart today they were $1.97 each and Kroger has them for $2.12. BUT the original price for the drinks at K-mart is $2 and the computers were having trouble with the "new" price, so they fixed it and the price was $2 each and with the BOGO coupon, they were only $1 each!!! So needless to say, I stocked up! Mom and KG met me at the store and she bought 10 and I bought 10 and now we have a bunch...the kicker, I am thinking of going and getting more, you don't get a deal like this often!

Easter Sunday

The Easter bunny visited and brought the kids some goodies! The Easter bunny was very kind this year and didn't bring a lot of candy and if I heard correctly the Easter bunny bought a majority of the items with coupons!

Tree Cleanup

Some pretty big storms came through last night and our friends lost some trees. So I volunteered my husband to go out and help them cut up and remove one of the trees. The two of them were able to move this tree out.

Kindergarten Musical

The boys had their Kindergarten Musical tonight and I have to say, the teachers especially the music teacher put together a great show! Each of the boys had a part, Tanner was the farmer for the song BINGO and Tyler was a quacker!

Treehouse

Thomas and KG have gotten started on the tree house, when finished it will be 12x12 with steps down to the lower platform that will have a slide coming down to the ground. We will probably have to do this is two parts. First, section will just be a tall deck until we can save for the house part, but what lucky these kids are!

Wood Shopping

(This picture is a little late this is not all of the wood some has already been used, but the story about it is below!)

Lowes recently had a coupon $10 off $50 purchase. We had been talking about making the kids a tree house in the backyard and had saved some of our tax refund money for this. Well we couldn't pass up the coupon and made many trips to Lowes. Truth be told on Saturday we actually got Mom and KG to Lowes with us and did 8 purchases!

Unfortunately, we had a little to much wood for the truck to handle and on the drive home from Lowes driving up 101st half the wood fell out! Thomas and I jump out to start collecting, but what a mess!!! Luckily the wood all slid off and out of the roadway and a nice guy turned around and came to help us!

Thankfully, no wood was damaged and we managed to get it all home in one piece so now we are ready to build the tree house!

Oh, What Savings!

So, I have somewhat been obsessed with the Extreme Couponing on TLC. I would like to be able to do what some of those people are doing and I have been keeping an eye on a couple websites that can help me save money while shopping. So, I made my list and went to the store. Along with the items I had coupons for I needed to buy some things for the boys classrooms for their Easter celebrations. What you see below are all the items I bought at Wal-mart, before scrolling down take a guess at how much it all cost? Below you will find my receipt with the final amount on it, but included in the picture are a few items I did not have a coupon for including the two packs of stickers for $3, the bag of candy for $2, and the Easter grass for $1.66. Now how much do you think I paid?

Yes, you read that correctly, all of those items cost me $4.01 out of pocket, including the tax on all the items! With Wal-marts coupon policy you get the full amount of money off your purchase even if the products don't cost that much. Thomas asked me why I bought infant formula and my reply was because I was able to make money to buy other items with it. I had a $5 off coupon, the formula only cost $3 something, giving me $1 + to spend on the items I didn't have a coupon for!!! I donated the formula to the daycare for anyone interested!

I don't think I will be able to coupon to the extent of some of those people, but I would like to be able to stockpile a little, it never hurts to have reserves!

Birds Nest

The birds decided our outdoor ceiling fan would be a good place to build their nest. Sorry, birds Thomas doesn't agree! They have made an absolute mess on the patio and if we let them keep their nest there, they would poop all over also...not a good idea! It is amazing what the birds can do, look at this nest and how well made it looks!
